Frequently asked questions
Clear answers about family access, dates, reminders, and how Appffeine works alongside a student's existing tools.
Getting Started
Can a parent use Appffeine without the student signing up?
Yes. A parent can start organizing in the family account; a student does not need to create an account or join first. The agenda includes only students this account is authorized to access under existing family permissions.
What does the by-date agenda include?
By-date shows deadlines for all students this account is authorized to access, with an optional student filter. By-school lets you select a school and review the dates associated with it. Neither view expands account permissions.
What's included in the Family Plan?
The Family Plan remains free for families and includes the existing family features: unlimited schools, deadline tracking and email reminders, cost and ROI tools, the Grades & Scores Matchmaker, Campus Tours, and family collaboration. Each account supports up to 4 student profiles. No credit card is required. Professional services and agreements are separate; existing commitments remain in effect.
How do I add a school?
Use the existing school search or manual school entry in the family workspace. A school list can support deadline planning, but families do not need to complete a college discovery or list-planning flow before adding a date.
How do I share my plan with family?
Use the family account's existing sharing controls and choose access according to the available options. Account permissions govern what collaborators can view or change; the all-student agenda does not grant additional access.
Deadlines & Reminders
Are suggested preparation windows official deadlines?
No. Optional editorial preparation starters and suggested windows are general planning guidance, not dates issued by a school, state, or federal agency. They are optional and do not establish an official deadline.
What is a family-entered date?
A parent or family member can enter a target date for their own planning, or record an external date after checking its source. A family-entered date is not independently verified by Appffeine. Keep the date type and source clear.
Should we confirm dates with official sources?
Yes. Requirements can vary by institution, application cycle, and round, and dates can change. Confirm current requirements with the relevant official admissions, financial-aid, housing, state, or federal source. A missing date does not mean there is no deadline or that applications remain open.
Will adding a date automatically send reminders?
Review reminder settings and consent in your account. Email reminders are available for eligible tracked dates when enabled. Adding a date is not blanket consent to every notification, and delivery depends on current account settings and service status.
Are text reminders available?
SMS reminders are not currently available as a paid Family Plus feature. Do not rely on text messaging for a deadline. Review the account's current email reminder settings and consent.
School Tools & Supporting Features
Does Appffeine connect to Common App, Scoir, or Naviance?
No. Appffeine is a separate family organizer and does not claim an integration or automatic synchronization with Common App, Scoir, Naviance, or school portals. Continue using those tools for their official workflows and application status.
Can I use Appffeine if my school already gives us a planning tool?
Yes, if a separate family date organizer is useful to you. Appffeine complements the systems available to your family; it does not replace school tools or counselor instructions. Your family may decide its current tools are sufficient.
How does the Campus Tours notebook save notes?
Campus Tours supports quick capture, optional priorities, and multiple browser-local drafts. Those drafts are stored in that browser; they are not account-protected or cloud-synced. Use its explicit email, PDF, or import actions when you want to move or keep a copy.
Are cost and essay tools still available?
Cost comparison and essay-related tools remain supporting features. Cost information can vary in availability and year; check current college materials and the school's net price calculator. Essay reference text is supplied by the parent; Appffeine does not provide official school essay prompts through that feature.
Where does college information come from?
Sources and coverage vary by feature and school. Review the source and date context shown with information when available, and confirm time-sensitive details with the relevant official institution or agency. Historical or estimated data is not a personal outcome or a current aid offer.
Account & Privacy
Who can see my family's information?
Family access follows the account's existing authorization and sharing permissions. The combined agenda is limited to students this account is permitted to access. Review account settings and sharing before inviting a collaborator.
Are Campus Tours browser drafts protected by my account?
No. Browser-local tour drafts are not account-protected storage or cloud sync. They remain in the browser where you created them. Use explicit email or PDF export to keep a copy, or the available import action when appropriate.
How do I get support?
Visit the Help Center or contact Appffeine support for account and technical questions. Professional service or contract questions are handled separately from the Family Plan.
